I love the tension between opposites- sweet and sour, hot and cold, masculine and
feminine. This dialogue between opposing forces appears throughout my work, starting with the most fundamental- traditional in application, current subject matter. I embrace the juxtaposition of old and new, actual/imagined, sacred and the profane. And by forcing contrasts together it creates a certain validation for each- both seem more real- more electric- more alive. And the energy sparking between components of anything is what is captivating- it gives everything vitality and relevance.
